“When children don’t feel well…”
Schema Therapy

Date: 19 January 2024
Time: 10 am – 4 pm

“I don’t know what is happening in my head …”

Everything is fine, I just don’t have anything to say… I want to play alone!
Why is it so tough for my parents to understand me?

As child therapists our role is multifaceted comprising screening, understanding, building rapport with children and their parents, intervening, using suitable techniques and play with our little patients. When it comes to emotional difficulties/disorders in children, such as anxiety disorders (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Social Anxiety, Specific Phobias, Separation Anxiety Disorder etc.) we have to treat them with as much compassion as we can, with genuine emotions and effective techniques to overcome their difficulties.
How can we facilitate the expression of their emotions and their anxiety, how can we make them feel safe enough to deal with their anxiety and how can we assist the parents to understand their child in a better and deeper way? How can we work with their anxiety component and still be playful? Throughout the current experiential workshop we will focus on the therapeutic treatment of the emotional difficulties that children may face, enlisting therapeutic elements from Schema Therapy that we can use in order to work with them more effectively and in a more creative and playful way.

*Note: for attending this workshop is required to have knowledge of the basic concepts of Schema Therapy.
